The WAJE Fact Check: Usability in virtual worlds
Have you tried turning it off and on again? We've all heard this phrase before. Whether from the Internet provider's technical hotline or from our own children or grandchildren. And fortunately, this can solve a surprising number of technical problems. Problems that don't even occur in our virtual worlds.
When new technologies and software are introduced, many people are initially skeptical and of course you have to acquire new knowledge to be able to use them. We all felt the same way when smartphones found their way into our lives.
We are aware of this and keep it in mind when we develop our virtual worlds. That's why they are suitable for absolutely everyone. Intuitive controls and operation make it child's play to look around and move within our digital worlds of experience and events. The user interface is never overloaded and slowly introduces all participants to its operation. Icons and buttons facilitate access to interactive content.
On request, we can of course integrate tutorials with individual depth – depending on the level of knowledge of your target group. But first and foremost, we simply encourage participants to try out and click on everything. To explore and discover. It's child's play, it's the most fun and of course you can't break anything.
And if you do make a mistake, simply reload the website and our virtual world again. After all, some problems are easiest to solve by switching off and on again.
